It was pointed out to me by *ahem* someone, that it has been over 3 months since my last blog post. What can I say! I'm a busy guy over the summer, constantly on the go and have things to d oand people to see!
I was talking with Linds tonight while I'm sitting in my hotel room on what should be my last trip to Washington for work for this year and I was thinking back and was like "What have I done for the last three months that has been interesting?"
Honestly, I can't think of anything that really stands out. My life for the last three months has pretty much been work, work and more work. There's been quite a few trips down to the states to meet with growers and show our customers around, hanging out with friends, and seeing Linds.
Linds came out for my birthday weekend, which I loved, but also was way too short. She landed Friday night and left Sunday night, so our time together was short but was good. We did a walk for ALS in honor of Oma, then I had people over for a bbq for my birthday. Sunday we went to the airshow which is something I hadn't seen in like 5 or 6 years. I LOVE it! Always had a fascination with fighter jets and the raw power that they have. For the longest time I wanted to join the Air Force and try to become a fighter pilot, I still want to get up in the air one day in a plane like that and get to do some of the maneuvers that you see in all the movies and the airshow.
So yeah, it was a short trip, but she came back like a week and a half later! And she was able to stay from uhh.. what was it.. like Friday - Thurs morning or something like that. So we made up for it there! Went back down to Seattle for a night and walked along the waterfront and went to Crab Pot, even checked out a Mariners game... which kind of solidified the fact that neither of us are baseball fans and really couldn't care if we ever see a game in person again. I seriously think we were talking about hockey more than we were paying attention to the baseball game. Oh well! Was still a good experience to have some peanuts and watch a game in person.
What else has happened.. Hmm... I went to Calgary a couple weeks ago for about 10 days. Did some work there then we took Thanksgiving weekend and went to the mountains. Spent the first night in Banff and then went to Lake Louise.
*Note for future self reading back on this blog : Don't spend the night in Lake Louise, there's nothing to do there when it's dark out, unless of course you're hiking or something and are too exhausted to drive back to Banff after visiting Louise.
Though, going to Lake Louise did inspire me to take a more serious look at Astrophotography. Due to there being absolutely no light pollution there, there were so many stars in the sky and it made me play around with Lindsey's camera and do some long exposure shots into the sky to get some shots of the stars. I've always been interested in taking pictures of the sky/stars and this kind of just re-ignited the flame. Though it isn't a cheap hobby to get into, need to get a better camera ($1,500 or so) then you want to get a telescope, then a mount that will automatically adjust/turn to match the rotation of the earth, filters etc. etc.
Something to start off slow with and gradually build it I guess. I"ll add it to the list of "big purchases", there's a couple things already on that list that take precedent over this instrumentation first!
As I'm writing this and bitching about baseball and how boring it is... I"m watching it on tv right now. Seeing as though the presidential debates are over, there isn't much else to watch when you're in the middle of nowhere. Though, this is actually pretty interesting to watch since it's the last inning and it's like the ALC's or something so I guess it's like the semi final and yeah. Still not as interesting or as fun to watch as other sports... or any other sport for that matter.
I ask Linds to give me an idea for what I should write about in here, that she could name anything and I will write about it. So I could easily have had to write about purple elephants that spray skittles out of their nose and fart bubbles, but nope, instead I have to write about : her!
Which is pretty easy to do, seeing as though most of my blog posts are about her, I'll just copy/paste. Jokes!
Like I said, I was in Calgary about two weeks ago and every time we spend time together my heart grows that much more for her (if that is even possible). This trip I feel like I spent more time with her family, well, at least with her Dad. He brought me out fishing twice, then I saw him on Thanksgiving, then we went to a movie. So I saw him 4 times and I could say that 2 of those times was some quality bonding time. You know, you always need to get in the father's good graces if you're planning on marrying his daughter. I think I left a good impression!
Linds' photography company, Captured Design, is really starting to flourish and turn into something amazing. I was talking to her on the phone today while I was driving down here and I already told her how inspiring it is to see something that someone has so much passion about grow at such a rate that it has been. This time last year, she really didn't have that many shoots booked, maybe 2-3? And now I can say she has sticky notes everywhere with shoots that she has to do and is constantly adding to them. It's great that she's getting more business, growing her portfolio and loving every minute of it. She's an awesome photographer, so if anyone aside from her reads this and wants some photos done.. think of her! ;) Captured Design! Check it out!
You know, I always try to explain myself about Lindsey and the feelings I have for her and how she makes me feel, and I'll never explain it properly, it's just.. an amazing feeling that is indescribable. Something that people search forever for, and I'm so glad that I found it. It's so great to fall in love with your best friend, someone that you know inside and out. That you grew up with, someone that you can trust with anything and know they'll always be there for you and never do anything to hurt you or do you wrong. So many things are amazing about her, so many things that I've spoken about before, but that isn't even scratching the surface to be honest. Linds, I love you. Thank you for being the most amazing girlfriend that a guy could ever dream of, for being a constant inspiration and always motivating me to be a better person and to constantly pursue my goals and dreams. This distance sucks, and at times it feels completely unbearable, but seeing the end goal makes it all worth it. <3
I have to be up at 4:00am tomorrow... I don't remember when I was up that early to do something! It's going to be a long, long day tomorrow. Hopefully hitting Oregon and getting back to Washington all in the same day! Still have product to buy so fingers crossed!
Anyway, this is long enough for now. I'll try to get some more posts on here soon!
